Plenty of inspiring dog stories abound, but this one takes the crown. Read on to see how this doggo beat all the odds against her.
This story happened roughly three years ago in a remote camp in Botswana. The heat and humidity, living conditions, food, water, and resources didn’t make life easier for residents there.
This doggo named Poppy lived with a crushed spine and paralysis on her hind legs. She suffered in this condition since she was little.
Imagine the pain that this pup couldn’t tell anyone, and add the poor living conditions mentioned, and you’d get a feel of the doggo’s situation.
This little warrior dragged herself for miles and miles just to ask for help. People were understandably shocked when they saw her.
Susanne Vogel, one of the people who saw Poppy painfully drag herself to help, worked in an elephant research camp in Botswana.
She sprang into action, took the dog, and brought her to the vet. This puppy might be smaller than a regular hooman, but her mental fortitude demands respect at the highest level.
We wonder what went through her head as she dragged herself in pain, under the sweltering heat and humidity.
Poppy did it, despite the odds; she got to her goal without letting circumstances stop her. That’s inspiring and astounding at the same time.
Susan helped Poppy get the medical treatment she needed. The vet told Susan that a spinal surgery’s required to get the puppy regain her walk.
Either that or she’ll gain a wheelchair to help her get around. We’re thankful for kind-hearted people who care enough for the needs of animals like Poppy.
We don’t know if you realize how inspiring you are, pet. Thank you for reminding us that we are bigger than our circumstances. We appreciate your example of not giving up.
Fight on, pet; we’re cheering for you!
