Ermioni Giannakou and her colleagues were roaming around the streets of Karditsa in Greece when they saw a stray dog with her tail under her body. The Diasozo Animal Rescue workers shared that the poor pup they named Cassia was coming straight to them for food, but the puppy was too scared to come closer.
Ermioni shared that Cassia kept her distance. Ermioni and her fellow rescue workers saw how afraid Cassia was, and they eventually realized that they would not be able to catch her because she kept on running away from them.
Ermioni recalled that she and her team went back to the Cassia’s location again. Ermioni shared that Cassia tried to come over to them, but stopped a few meters away and just stared at them.
Ermioni shared that they were trying to convince Cassia to come to them, but she did not. Ermioni and her co-workers observed Cassia’s every movement and saw nothing but fear in the animal’s entire body.
Ermioni said that Cassia was so hungry, but she was more focused on being afraid. Ermioni and her team kept visiting Cassia almost every day, but nothing happened despite regularly checking up on the pup for over a month.
Ermioni knew they needed to do something better than what they were doing, so they decided to buy a trap in hopes of catching Cassia. Ermioni and her team set it up in a less conspicuous place, but Cassia eventually noticed it and avoided it altogether.
Ermioni and her team consulted a vet and asked for a drug that would help them catch the evasive pup. Ermioni and her colleagues picked up Cassia as soon as she fell asleep from the medication and brought her to their rescue facility.
Ermioni shared how relieved she was that their 3-month-long rescue mission finally came to an end. Ermioni said that her friend, who lived in England, adopted Cassia and gave her the loving home she needed.
