Thousands of dogs are displaced during disasters, such as wildfires, hurricanes, earthquakes, and floods. Most of these dogs used to have a home but suddenly becomes homeless or trapped in their home because of a variety of reasons. Some dog owners can’t make it back to their homes because roads become too hazardous to drive through, while others are left behind by their owners.
Thankfully, there are dedicated people who rescue animals from disaster zones. Keith Benning made it his life’s work to rescue dogs and other animals trapped in their homes because of disasters. Since Keith founded the Turtle Mountain Animal Rescue, his organization has saved thousands of dogs and other animals from disasters.
Although Keith is seen as a hero by a lot of people, Keith himself doesn’t think he’s one and that he’s only doing his part. Keith believes that we’ve domesticated dogs and other animals and that we should be responsible for their well-being. From rescuing dogs inside flooded houses to braving deep waters to rescue a dog trapped on the roof of a sinking car, Keith has done it all and continues to save animals.
Since Keith founded Turtle Mountain Animal Rescue, his organization has rescued thousands of animals during hurricanes Harvey, Florence, Irma, and Michael. Keith and his group of volunteers don’t just save animals, but they also work hard to reunite the animals to their very grateful owners.
Keith believes that all animals deserve to be rescued. Whenever there’s a natural disaster in the country, Keith and his group of rescuers from the Turtle Mountain Animal Rescue will surely be there to help with the animal search and rescue effort. Keith and his team are definitely making a difference in the lives of animals.
