No one can understand one’s situation better than someone who has experienced it. Just like they say, you won’t know it until you are in the same place as them.
Bandit is a dog who has been with the Gwinnett Jail Dog Program since 2014. He has wished to find a forever family that will take care of him. Bandit was able to create a special bond with the people in the program, but because of disability, it wasn’t easy getting adopted.
Bandit had the chance of adoption several times, but in the end, they all return him. His special needs were too much work for the families that adopted him. Because of a heartworm treatment during his time at the program, Bandit became paralyzed.
His back legs are no longer of use, and he is using a special wheelchair so he can move around. With the help of it, Bandit can run and play like any healthy dog. Still because of his disability that requires special attention made it impossible to find a forever home.
Bandit became the luckiest dog when he met Darrel and his wife. They were a family who understood his condition like no one else has since Darrel was just like Bandit, who is also paralyzed. The two made a special connection because of what they had in common, like Bandit, Darell also moves around in a wheelchair.
For Darrel, he can see so much of him in Bandit; that’s why the dog captured his heart. All the things he went through was so much like of Bandit. That’s why without hesitation, they have agreed to adopt the dog and be part of their family.
It was the perfect home for Bandit as it is already accessible for his wheelchair. Bandit never felt more welcomed and loved his entire life. Now he is living his life with a loving family who accepts him regardless of how he is.
