A family got a dog from a shelter who was labeled unadoptable by the staff at the facility, and months later, the dog became the family’s hero.
The pooch named Edgar scared off a man who intruded into the family’s house and was looking to abduct a child.
The very next day of the incident, the local police arrested a suspect named Thomas Dewald, who revealed during interrogations that he had been trolling the area for many weeks in an attempt to abduct an unsupervised child.
The criminal had already abducted a four-year-old girl, but she was able to escape successfully. Since his last abductee’s escape, Thomas was again on his prowl, but Edgar would not let it happen this time.
Edgar’s human family had arrived home late after attending an out of town funeral, and as soon as they came back, the parents carried their three girls to bed.
Shortly after that, the parents also went to sleep with Edgar in the room just like usual routine.
About only two hours later, the pooch, who is usually a sweet and laid back animal, began behaving as if he had lost his mind and showed rageful behavior.
Dad, Thom Lambert, tried to calm Edgar down, but the pooch was extraordinarily restless, and then suddenly Thom heard the noise of footsteps from the kitchen floor downstairs.
Thom immediately went into his daughters’ room, who were all safe in the room. He got his daughters in his room, where his wife tucked them in the bed while Thom took a knife and went downstairs to clear the house after calling 911.
Police arrived and cleared the area. Thom said that Edgar also went to sleep after being satisfied that he had done his duty, and everybody in the house was safe.
The suspect told the police that he certainly did intrude into the house belonging to the Lambert family and wanted to abduct one of their children but ran away because of the angrily barking dog.
